Driving back from Atlanta the battery light on the Jeep came on. Not a good sign when you can hear a whining sound coming off the engine. I thought: oh oh, this is not the battery, but the alternator.

Luckily, the Jeep made it to the auto parts store close to the house (this did not happen on the freeway). The attendant check the car and yes it was the alternator.

I was lucky because I drive a 2007 Jeep. You can actually reach the parts. It took 30 min between re charging the battery and replacing the alternator. The store let me use their tools. $160 later, i was buying chicken wings for the 2 guys at the store (they gave me pointers on how to replace the part).

Sometimes you get lucky!
